ReMint is a trading name of iMint Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 16681436. We buy used devices, and we need remarkably little personal information to do it.
What we collect
- Your name and email address, to manage your order and pay you.
- Your mobile number, if you give us one. It is optional, and we use it to text you about your own trade in: when the pack posts, when your phone lands, when you are paid.
- Details of your device, including the IMEI, to verify and identify it.
- Your bank details, used only to pay you.
- Your order history and our messages with you, to resolve any issues.
What we deliberately do not do
- No marketing without asking. Ordering does not subscribe you to anything; there is a box you can tick if you would like price alerts and offers, it is off by default, and you can untick it any time from your account.
- No marketing texts unless you asked for those separately. Email and text are two different boxes, both off by default, because agreeing to hear from us in one place is not agreeing to hear from us in another. Marketing texts only ever go to people who ticked the text box and gave us a number, every one of them says how to stop, and replying STOP takes you off the list straight away and for good, whether or not you have an order with us.
- No third party advertising trackers and no tracking cookies.
- No selling or renting of your personal data. Ever.
The data on your device
Every device we buy is erased in line with recognised industry standards (NIST SP 800-88 and IEEE 2883). The erasure is verified and a certificate is kept with your order record. Please switch off Find My and remove your SIM before posting.
Device checks
We check every device’s IMEI against industry loss and theft registers before paying. If a check fails, we may need to share information with the register operator or law enforcement.
How long we keep things
Order records are kept for six years to meet UK tax and VAT margin scheme rules. Saved quotes that go unused expire after ninety days.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete anything we are not legally required to keep. Email us and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the ICO.
