A 1 TB Galaxy S26 Ultra with a cracked screen that still shows a perfect picture is £436. With lines, burn-in or a black screen it is £264. A smashed screen takes less off than most people expect: it has to switch on, and that is about it.

Condition

  • An aftermarket or OLED copy replacement screen
  • Smashed glass, cameras, fingerprint or buttons broken too
  • Any battery health
  • Will not switch on or charge: we cannot buy it

Every figure is today’s price list, the same one the quote reads.

The broken price is not a scrap price. With the display faulty a 1 TB Galaxy S26 Ultra still keeps about half of the working figure; with only the glass cracked it keeps almost the whole of it.

Where the Galaxy S26 Ultra sits

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is the top of the S26 range: the largest screen in the series, the S Pen that slides out of the bottom edge, and the dearest phone of the series new, which is why a broken Ultra still fetches the most of any S26. For Works fine the pen has to be in the phone and writing; in either faulty grade a lost or dead pen takes nothing extra off.

The S26 range is this year's, so a Galaxy S26 Ultra is about as new as a Galaxy gets. New phones lose the most value in their first year, which makes now the dearest moment to leave one sitting in a drawer with a broken screen.

Sure it is this one?

Open Settings, then About phone. The name is at the top and the model number under it. Storage is under Settings, Battery and device care, Storage. If the name does not say Galaxy S26 Ultra, find yours on the Galaxy list. Every Ultra in the S22 to S26 range has an S Pen that slides out of the bottom edge.

Screen broken on a Galaxy: what counts

Lines, blots, dead pixels, a green or pink tint, touch that does not respond, a black screen that still rings, burn-in (a ghost of the keyboard, navigation bar or clock that stays on screen), or an aftermarket or OLED copy screen. All of them are Screen broken, up to £264 for a 1 TB. An original screen, or a genuine Samsung Service Pack replacement, counts as original, and cracked glass over a perfect picture is the better grade, Not perfect, screen works. Samsung shows no message for a replaced screen, so we check it on arrival: if it is not original we send a revised offer you can accept, or we post the phone back free. It has to switch on and charge, and it must not be blacklisted or still signed in to a Google or Samsung account.

Questions about selling a broken Galaxy S26 Ultra

Do you buy a Galaxy S26 Ultra with screen burn-in?

Yes, and it is one of the commonest faults on an older Galaxy. A ghost of the navigation bar or keyboard that never goes away counts as Screen broken, which pays up to £264 for a 1 TB that still switches on.

Do I need to remove my Google account?

Yes. Turn off Find My Mobile and remove your Google and Samsung accounts before you post it. A Galaxy still linked to a Google account locks itself after a reset (Factory Reset Protection), so we cannot test or wipe it, and we would have to send it back. With a broken screen you can remove the phone from your Google account on a computer.

Does the S Pen have to come with it?

If you are selling it as Works fine, the pen must be there and working. In Not perfect or Screen broken it makes no difference to the price.

My fingerprint reader stopped working after the crack. Which grade?

Not perfect, screen works, as long as the picture is clean. The reader sits under the display, so a crack often kills it, but a dead reader alone does not make the screen broken.

The screen was replaced. Does that matter?

An original screen, or a genuine Samsung Service Pack replacement, counts as original. An aftermarket or OLED copy screen, however good it looks, is priced as Screen broken. Samsung shows no message for a replaced screen, so we check it on arrival: if it is not original we send a revised offer you can accept, or we post the phone back free.

How fast do I get paid?

By bank transfer, within 48 hours of arrival, Monday to Friday. Nothing about your price changes without us telling you first, and a revised offer can always be refused for a free return.
