Not sure which one is yours? Picture fine means the picture is perfect however the glass looks. Picture faulty means the display itself is faulty or has been replaced. Hidden faults, battery to Face ID, are accepted in both. Our three grades, explained properly.
Is the 256 GB worth checking?
Working, the 128 GB pays £13 less and the 512 GB pays £5 more. At the same capacity, the iPhone SE (2022) pays £111 less and the iPhone 14 Plus pays £5 less.
At 256 GB, Picture fine pays £122 and Picture faulty pays £86: smashed glass over a good screen takes £10 off, not the phone's whole value.
The same 256 GB in the models either side: iPhone SE (2022) 256 GB, iPhone 14 Plus 256 GB.
If Settings, General, About shows a Capacity other than 256 GB, use one of these instead: 128 GB, 512 GB.
256 GB, translated into things you own
After the operating system takes its cut you are looking at roughly 230 GB of usable room. Filling that takes commitment: about 22 hours of 4K footage at Apple's estimated 170 MB a minute, or a photo library well past seventy thousand pictures. Apps stop being part of the sum altogether, since even a heavy handful of games disappears into headroom like this. Plenty of 256 GB phones go their whole first life without coming near the ceiling.
Where the size does bite is on sending day. If yours actually is loaded, budget hours rather than minutes for the backup: a couple of hundred gigabytes over home Wi-Fi is a slow crawl, so set it going when the postage pack arrives rather than when you want to head to the post office.
£13 up from the 128 GB, £5 short of the 512 GB
Those two gaps, both at Working grade, are the honest shape of the used market: capacity earns its premium because it cannot be added later, but the model and the condition do the heavy lifting on price. Whatever Apple charged for those steps at the till, the second hand market keeps only the slice a real buyer will actually pay for.
If you are weighing what to tell us about damage, do not let the size distract you. A cracked screen moves this price a great deal further than either storage step does, and it moves it the same way on every size.
Bought on purpose
Nobody drifted into a 256 GB iPhone 14. It cost meaningfully more at the till, and the people who paid that mostly knew why. Used, the same logic holds: fewer of them about than the entry size, and a steady supply of buyers who specifically want the room, which keeps its premium honest rather than hopeful. Do glance at the About screen before settling on this page, because a memory of which size you bought years ago is less reliable than the Capacity line is.
Is this the iPhone 14 you have?
A 14 and a 13 are the same 6.1 inch phone with a notch and two diagonal lenses, and there is no reliable way to tell them apart by eye. Settings, General, About settles it. One clue: an iPhone 14 with no SIM tray at all was sold in America.
The iPhone 14 in one paragraph
Apple redesigned the inside of the 14 so the back glass comes off on its own. On every iPhone before it a cracked back meant replacing the whole chassis, so a 14 with a smashed back is a much cheaper phone to bring back than a 13 with the same damage.
iPhone 14 prices by size
| Size | Working | Faulty / Damaged - Screen Fine | Faulty / Damaged - Screen Bad |
|---|---|---|---|
| 128 GB | £119 | £111 | £77 |
| 256 GB this page | £132 | £122 | £86 |
| 512 GB | £137 | £127 | £86 |
£132 is locked for 10 days. Postage and the postage pack are free, and a phone that does not match its grade gets a revised offer you can turn down.
What tends to go wrong with this one is on the iPhone 14 page.

The 256 GB question
What is an iPhone 14 256 GB worth right now?
The size half of it is settled by the page you are on: the 256 GB sits between the 128 GB and the 512 GB, so it pays more than the one and less than the other. Everything after that is condition. Glass and picture are graded separately here, so a cracked 256 GB whose picture is still perfect prices in the middle rather than at the bottom, and only a display faulty in itself goes lower. A battery under 80 per cent lands in that same middle grade. Whichever of the three figures above turns out to be yours is locked for 10 days once you order.
Cracked screens, battery health, Find My and how fast you are paid are answered on the iPhone 14 page.
