Selling a cracked or broken iPhone 13 Pro Max? A cracked iPhone with a good screen is Picture fine. A broken screen, lines, blotches or a replacement display, is Picture faulty. A smashed one with a cracked back or Face ID not working can be either; a phone that won't charge is one we cannot buy.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max went on sale in September 2021 with a 6.7 inch OLED screen, which makes it about 5 years old. This is the age where one is worth more to somebody who repairs phones than to anybody who scraps them, working or not. Get your price in a minute and post it free.

What we know about the iPhone 13 Pro Max

It held the longest battery life of any iPhone for a while, so these were bought to be used hard and generally were.

A 6.7 inch 120 Hz panel is the single most expensive screen of its generation to replace, which is exactly why a broken one is worth sending to somebody who repairs rather than somebody who resells.

Is this the phone you have?

6.7 inches, three rear cameras and a notch across the top of the screen. If the cut out at the top is a pill shape floating below the edge, you have a 14 Pro Max or newer, and those are worth more than this.

If the screen has gone

The iPhone 13 Pro Max has a 6.7 inch Super Retina XDR panel running at 120 Hz. A big panel and a fast one is the dearest combination there is, which is why a site pricing damage as scrap quotes almost nothing for a broken one.

With the picture still good, a cracked one runs 128 GB £155, 256 GB £170, 512 GB £170 and 1 TB £170. If the display itself is damaged rather than the glass over it, a 128 GB is £106.

A faulty display leaves 65 per cent of the working price on a 128 GB, one of the better ones on this site. What a broken iPhone 13 Pro Max is worth goes through every capacity.

Exact price for your size

As with the 13 Pro, the 128 GB is the only size limited to 1080p ProRes video. Every larger one records it at 4K.

Working, this model runs 128 GB £164, 256 GB £190, 512 GB £190 and 1 TB £190. At 128 GB, the iPhone 13 Pro pays £24 less and the iPhone SE (2022) pays £143 less.

Why sell your iPhone 13 Pro Max to ReMint?

A broken 120 Hz panel is exactly what the big sites are worst at: they price it as a total loss and hand you the difference. We do the repair ourselves and sell the phone on, so the saving lands in your price instead.

Free tracked postage, checked within a working day, paid within 48 hours of it arriving, erased to recognised standards with the record kept.

Making a phone is where the damage is. Not using it. Which is why the greenest phone is one that already exists.

Selling this phone keeps roughly 59 kg of CO2e worth of manufacturing in use.

Where this figure comes from

Apple publishes a lifecycle footprint of 74 kg CO2e for a 128GB iPhone 13 Pro Max, from mining the materials to recycling the phone. Apple states 80 per cent production. That share of 74 kg is 59 kg.

Keeping a working iPhone 13 Pro Max going displaces the manufacture of a new one, so we quote the 59 kg rather than the whole 74 kg. Charging it, shipping it and recycling it happen either way.

It says roughly because it assumes your iPhone 13 Pro Max replaces one that would otherwise have been built. Apple's 74 kg is for the 128GB model as published in September 2021, and a larger size carries a larger footprint.

For a sense of scale, that is the same quantity of CO2e as driving about 220 miles in an average car.

Apple, Product Environmental Report: iPhone 13 Pro Max, September 2021. Mileage at 0.26915 kg CO2e per mile, UK Government conversion factors 2025.

Questions people ask before selling

What is an iPhone 13 Pro Max worth right now?

Size and condition, in that order. The sizes do not price the same on this model, so look yours up in Settings, General, About rather than guessing. Then condition, where the glass and the picture count separately: cracked glass with a perfect picture underneath is our middle grade (Picture fine), a faulty picture is our bottom grade, and battery health below 80 per cent goes in the middle grade too. The calculator on this page prices your exact combination, and once you order that price holds for 10 days.

What does my iPhone 13 Pro Max need to do for you to buy it?

It has to switch on, charge, and work. Under 80% battery is priced as Picture fine. Works fine: no cracks, everything works, battery 80% or above. Picture fine: LCD is good, front or back glass can be smashed, and Face ID, a camera, sound or a button can be broken. Picture faulty: bad LCD, or an aftermarket screen, with the same faults allowed.

What counts as Works fine for an iPhone 13 Pro Max?

Everything works, nothing is cracked and the battery reads 80 per cent or more. Your size's full price is at the head of this page.

What counts as Picture fine for an iPhone 13 Pro Max?

A smashed iPhone 13 Pro Max with a good LCD, the original screen and a perfect picture, or a crack free one whose battery is under 80 per cent. Face ID, a camera, a speaker or a button can be broken. It usually keeps most of the working price.

What counts as Picture faulty for an iPhone 13 Pro Max?

The picture itself is wrong on this iPhone 13 Pro Max, or the screen is not original; Face ID, a camera or a button can be broken as well. That is our bottom grade, and it still pays real money because the rest of the phone keeps its value.

My iPhone 13 Pro Max has a cracked screen. Do I get next to nothing for it?

No, and this is the thing we do differently. Your phone has two layers: the glass on top, and the picture underneath it. If the glass is cracked but the picture is still perfect, we call that "picture fine", because the part that shows you things is fine. That is our middle grade, not our bottom one, and a cracked iPhone 13 Pro Max with a perfect picture prices there. The bottom grade is for a fault in the picture itself: lines, blotches, blank patches, touch that does not respond, or a screen somebody has already replaced with a non original part. A cracked back counts the same as a cracked front. The quote on this page prices every grade.

Does low battery health matter on an iPhone 13 Pro Max?

The 80 per cent line in Settings, Battery is the thing to look at first. Above it, a crack free iPhone 13 Pro Max is Working grade. Below it the phone counts as Picture fine, which is a real price rather than a refusal, and the quote shows you that number before you post anything.

Can I sell an iPhone 13 Pro Max that is locked to a network?

Yes. Phones bought on contract before December 2021 are often still locked years later, and we buy them: a fixed amount, shown in pounds before you commit to anything, comes off the quote, which is what a locked phone costs us to deal with. You can keep that money, because the unlock is free from your own network: ask them, and it is usually done within a day or two. It has to be you who asks, as the account holder, which is why we cannot do it for you. Unlock it before you post the phone, answer unlocked, and the full price is yours. From the iPhone 13 onwards handsets are nearly always sold unlocked, so this is mostly a question for phones the age of the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Do I need to switch off Find My before selling my iPhone 13 Pro Max?

Find My must be switched off before we can buy the iPhone 13 Pro Max: it is Apple's Activation Lock, and a locked phone cannot be erased to standard or sold on. Settings does it while the phone is with you, and iCloud.com does it once it is posted. Arrive locked and we hold the phone for 14 days so you have the chance to remove it.

What if my iPhone 13 Pro Max will not turn on?

We do not quote for one, for a reason we would rather say plainly: a phone that will not power on cannot be tested, and it cannot be verifiably erased, which means it would leave here carrying your data. Your council's recycling centre or an Apple store will take it, both free of charge.

How fast will I be paid for my iPhone 13 Pro Max, and can the offer drop?

Inspection happens within one working day of arrival, and the money follows by bank transfer within 48 hours of the phone arriving. If the iPhone 13 Pro Max in front of us does not match what you told us, the price does not just shrink: we send a revised offer with an explanation, and you choose between taking it and having the phone back free.
