iPhone 12 Pro Max 128GB, Face ID failed, picture perfect: £98 against £99 working, 6 October 2026.
Selling a cracked or broken iPhone 12 Pro Max? A cracked iPhone with a good screen is Picture fine. A broken screen, lines, blotches or a replacement display, is Picture faulty. A smashed one with a cracked back or Face ID not working can be either; a phone that won't charge is one we cannot buy.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max went on sale in November 2020 with a 6.7 inch OLED screen, which makes it about 6 years old. Most sites have stopped looking properly at a phone this age, and at a broken one they barely look at all. We still do. Get your price in a minute and post it free.

Storage
Battery health 80% or more?
Settings, Battery, Battery Health. Ten seconds. Under 80 counts as Picture fine. Not sure is fine, we test it here.
- Paid by bank transfer within 48 hours of it arriving, Monday to Friday
- Post it today at any Post Office, no pack needed
- Price locked for 10 days once you order
- Change your mind after our check? We send it back free

Not sure which one is yours? Picture fine means the picture is perfect however the glass looks. Picture faulty means the display itself is faulty or has been replaced. Hidden faults, battery to Face ID, are accepted in both. Our three grades, explained properly.
Prices shown for 128 GB, the smallest this model came in. A working 512 GB pays £11 more.
What we know about the iPhone 12 Pro Max
It is the only iPhone of its year with a physically larger main camera sensor and sensor shift stabilisation, so the camera module out of a broken one is worth more than the one in the 12 Pro.
It is a heavy phone with a big flat front, and gravity has opinions about that combination. The cracks we see on these are usually across a corner rather than the middle.
Is this the phone you have?
6.7 inches, three cameras plus the LiDAR circle, matte back, stainless band. The 13 Pro Max is the same size with the same lens count, so if you are choosing between those two, Settings, General, About is worth the ten seconds.
If the screen has gone
The iPhone 12 Pro Max has a 6.7 inch Super Retina XDR OLED. That is a lot of glass. The panel is a part somebody wants and the rest of the phone still works.
With the picture still good, a cracked one runs 128 GB £98, 256 GB £98 and 512 GB £98. If the display itself is damaged rather than the glass over it, a 128 GB is £54.
With the picture gone a 128 GB keeps 55 per cent of that, a little below the middle of our range. What a broken iPhone 12 Pro Max is worth takes it size by size.
Exact price for your size
This model came in 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. Nothing changes between them but capacity: the same 6.7 inch screen, the same cameras and the same battery in all three.
Working, this model runs 128 GB £99, 256 GB £110 and 512 GB £110. At 128 GB, the iPhone 12 Pro pays £25 less and the iPhone 13 mini pays £45 less.
Why sell your iPhone 12 Pro Max to ReMint?
An iPhone 12 Pro Max is worth more to somebody who repairs phones than to anybody who melts them down, and that is not an insult to it. Panels, batteries and cameras from this generation are still wanted, because plenty of these are still in daily use.
Free tracked postage, checked within a working day, paid within 48 hours of it arriving, erased to recognised standards with the record kept.
Making a phone is where the damage is. Not using it. Which is why the greenest phone is one that already exists.
Selling this phone keeps roughly 71 kg of CO2e worth of manufacturing in use.
Where this figure comes from
Apple publishes a lifecycle footprint of 86 kg CO2e for a 128GB iPhone 12 Pro Max, from mining the materials to recycling the phone. Apple states 82 per cent production. That share of 86 kg is 71 kg.
Keeping a working iPhone 12 Pro Max going displaces the manufacture of a new one, so we quote the 71 kg rather than the whole 86 kg. Charging it, shipping it and recycling it happen either way.
It says roughly because it assumes your iPhone 12 Pro Max replaces one that would otherwise have been built. Apple's 86 kg is for the 128GB model as published in October 2020, and a larger size carries a larger footprint.
For a sense of scale, that is the same quantity of CO2e as driving about 260 miles in an average car.
Apple, Product Environmental Report: iPhone 12 Pro Max, October 2020. Mileage at 0.26915 kg CO2e per mile, UK Government conversion factors 2025.
Questions people ask before selling
What is an iPhone 12 Pro Max worth right now?
Two things move it, and the quote on this page settles both in under a minute. Storage size matters on this model, so check yours in Settings, General, About before you answer. Condition does the rest: cracked glass or battery health below 80 per cent puts the phone in our middle grade, and a display with a fault of its own puts it in the bottom one. Whatever the quote comes to is locked for 10 days once you order.
What does my iPhone 12 Pro Max need to do for you to buy it?
It has to switch on, charge, and work. Under 80% battery is priced as Picture fine. Works fine: no cracks, everything works, battery 80% or above. Picture fine: LCD is good, front or back glass can be smashed, and Face ID, a camera, sound or a button can be broken. Picture faulty: bad LCD, or an aftermarket screen, with the same faults allowed.
What counts as Works fine for an iPhone 12 Pro Max?
Everything works, nothing is cracked and the battery reads 80 per cent or more. Your size's full price is at the head of this page.
What counts as Picture fine for an iPhone 12 Pro Max?
Cracked glass on the front or a cracked back is fine as long as the original LCD shows a clean image; so is a battery under 80 per cent on a phone with no cracks. Face ID, a camera, sound or a button can also be broken.
What counts as Picture faulty for an iPhone 12 Pro Max?
A bad LCD (lines, blotches, blank patches, touch that does not respond) or an aftermarket replacement screen. Face ID, a camera, sound or a button can be broken too. It is the lowest of the three figures above.
My iPhone 12 Pro Max has a cracked screen. Do I get next to nothing for it?
No, and this is the thing we do differently. Your phone has two layers: the glass on top, and the picture underneath it. If the glass is cracked but the picture is still perfect, we call that "picture fine", because the part that shows you things is fine. That is our middle grade, not our bottom one, and a cracked iPhone 12 Pro Max with a perfect picture prices there. The bottom grade is for a fault in the picture itself: lines, blotches, blank patches, touch that does not respond, or a screen somebody has already replaced with a non original part. A cracked back counts the same as a cracked front. The quote on this page prices every grade.
Does low battery health matter on an iPhone 12 Pro Max?
A phone this age has usually worn its battery below the 80 per cent line, and we buy plenty that have. It simply means the iPhone 12 Pro Max counts as Picture fine rather than Working. The number is in front of you before the phone goes anywhere.
Can I sell an iPhone 12 Pro Max that is locked to a network?
We do buy network locked phones, and an iPhone 12 Pro Max bought on contract may well be one: before the December 2021 ban on locked handsets, contract phones often stayed locked for years without their owners knowing. For a locked one, a fixed amount, shown in pounds before you commit to anything, comes off the quote, the cost to us of dealing with the lock. The better answer costs nothing: as the account holder you can ask your network to unlock it free, usually within a day or two, something we are not allowed to do on your behalf. Do it before you post it, answer unlocked in the quote flow, and you keep the whole price. Phones from the iPhone 13 onwards are nearly always unlocked already, so this mostly matters for models this age.
Do I need to switch off Find My before selling my iPhone 12 Pro Max?
Yes. Find My is Apple's Activation Lock, and a phone still carrying it cannot be erased or resold, so it must be off before we can pay you. Switch it off in Settings on the iPhone 12 Pro Max, or from iCloud.com after it has gone in the post. If it arrives still locked we hold it for 14 days so you can remove the lock, rather than sending it straight back.
What if my iPhone 12 Pro Max will not turn on?
No price on that one, because with an iPhone 12 Pro Max that will not switch on we cannot verify what is wrong or erase it to standard. Rather than guess at a number we say so. Apple stores and council recycling centres both take it free, and neither will try to sell you anything.
How fast will I be paid for my iPhone 12 Pro Max, and can the offer drop?
We inspect within one working day of the phone arriving and pay by bank transfer within 48 hours of it arriving. If your iPhone 12 Pro Max does not match your answers, we do not quietly cut the payment. You get a revised offer with the reason, and you can accept it or have the phone returned free of charge.
If you are still weighing it up
Three things people ask before selling a iPhone 12 Pro Max, answered properly rather than in a sentence.
- How to check your iPhone storage size Open Settings, General, About and read the Capacity line. That is your storage size: 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB. It takes ten seconds.
- Where to sell a broken iPhone in the UK: every option compared Buyback sites, eBay, repair shops, trade in at the network. The honest pros and cons of each.
- What happens to your data when you sell your phone The two erasures your data goes through, and why neither of them is optional.
