Prices updated 6 October 2026.

iPhone 12 64GB, Face ID failed, picture perfect: £43 against £44 working, 6 October 2026.

If your iPhone 12 is smashed, the screen underneath decides: a good one is Picture fine, a bad LCD or a replacement screen is Picture faulty. A cracked back, cracked glass or Face ID not working is allowed in either. It must switch on and charge; one that won't charge we cannot take.

The iPhone 12 went on sale in October 2020 with a 6.1 inch OLED screen, which makes it about 6 years old. Most sites have stopped looking properly at a phone this age, and at a broken one they barely look at all. We still do. Get your price in a minute and post it free.

What we know about the iPhone 12

The 12 is where the flat sides came back and where Ceramic Shield started, so the front glass is tougher than the generation before it. The trade off is that a flat edge lands on a corner and concentrates the impact there.

Apple ran a service programme for iPhone 12 units built between October 2020 and April 2021 where the earpiece produces no sound on calls. If yours has gone silent, that is the known one, and it does not make the phone worthless to us.

Is this the phone you have?

6.1 inches, flat sided, with two rear cameras stacked vertically in the corner. On the 13 the same two lenses sit diagonally instead. That is the quickest way to tell a 12 from a 13 across a room, let alone in Settings.

If the screen has gone

The iPhone 12 has a 6.1 inch Super Retina XDR OLED. A broken one is not scrap. The board, the cameras and the battery are untouched, and the panel itself is a part another iPhone 12 needs.

With the picture still good, a cracked one runs 64 GB £43, 128 GB £44 and 256 GB £44. If the display itself is damaged rather than the glass over it, a 64 GB is £19.

A faulty display leaves 43 per cent of the working price on a 64 GB, a little below the middle of our range. What a broken iPhone 12 is worth goes through every capacity.

Exact price for your size

This model came in 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB. Nothing changes between them but capacity: the same 6.1 inch screen, the same cameras and the same battery in all three.

Working, this model runs 64 GB £44, 128 GB £54 and 256 GB £54. For comparison, at 64 GB the iPhone 12 mini pays £25 less and at 128 GB the iPhone 12 Pro pays £20 more.

Why sell your iPhone 12 to ReMint?

An iPhone 12 is worth more to somebody who repairs phones than to anybody who melts them down, and that is not an insult to it. Panels, batteries and cameras from this generation are still wanted, because plenty of these are still in daily use.

Free tracked postage, checked within a working day, paid within 48 hours of it arriving, erased to recognised standards with the record kept.

Making a phone is where the damage is. Not using it. Which is why the greenest phone is one that already exists.

Selling this phone keeps roughly 58 kg of CO2e worth of manufacturing in use.

Where this figure comes from

Apple publishes a lifecycle footprint of 70 kg CO2e for a 64GB iPhone 12, from mining the materials to recycling the phone. Apple states 83 per cent production. That share of 70 kg is 58 kg.

Keeping a working iPhone 12 going displaces the manufacture of a new one, so we quote the 58 kg rather than the whole 70 kg. Charging it, shipping it and recycling it happen either way.

It says roughly because it assumes your iPhone 12 replaces one that would otherwise have been built. Apple's 70 kg is for the 64GB model as published in October 2020, and a larger size carries a larger footprint.

For a sense of scale, that is the same quantity of CO2e as driving about 220 miles in an average car.

Apple, Product Environmental Report: iPhone 12, October 2020. Mileage at 0.26915 kg CO2e per mile, UK Government conversion factors 2025.

Questions people ask before selling

What is an iPhone 12 worth right now?

The quote above answers it exactly, and two things move the number. Size counts here, so check yours in Settings, General, About. Then condition, and the glass and the picture count separately: cracked glass with a good picture underneath is our middle grade, and a fault in the picture itself is the bottom one. Ordering locks your price for 10 days.

What does my iPhone 12 need to do for you to buy it?

It has to switch on, charge, and work. Under 80% battery is priced as Picture fine. Works fine: no cracks, everything works, battery 80% or above. Picture fine: LCD is good, front or back glass can be smashed, and Face ID, a camera, sound or a button can be broken. Picture faulty: bad LCD, or an aftermarket screen, with the same faults allowed.

What counts as Works fine for an iPhone 12?

An iPhone 12 with whole glass, nothing wrong and a battery of at least 80 per cent. It earns the top figure above.

What counts as Picture fine for an iPhone 12?

Cracked glass on the front or a cracked back is fine as long as the original LCD shows a clean image; so is a battery under 80 per cent on a phone with no cracks. Face ID, a camera, sound or a button can also be broken.

What counts as Picture faulty for an iPhone 12?

A bad LCD (lines, blotches, blank patches, touch that does not respond) or an aftermarket replacement screen. Face ID, a camera, sound or a button can be broken too. It is the lowest of the three figures above.

My iPhone 12 has a cracked screen. Do I get next to nothing for it?

Quite the opposite: a cracked iPhone 12 with a working picture is the exact phone this business was built to buy. Think of the glass and the picture as two separate things. Broken glass over a perfect picture is what we call "picture fine", which sounds odd until you know that screen there means the picture, not the glass. It is our middle grade rather than our bottom one. The bottom grade is for a display with a fault of its own, lines, blotches, blank patches, or touch that ignores your finger, and for a screen already swapped for a non original one. A cracked back sits in the same grade as a cracked front, and both figures are on the quote above.

Does low battery health matter on an iPhone 12?

A phone this age has usually worn its battery below the 80 per cent line, and we buy plenty that have. It simply means the iPhone 12 counts as Picture fine rather than Working. The number is in front of you before the phone goes anywhere.

Can I sell an iPhone 12 that is locked to a network?

Yes. Phones bought on contract before December 2021 are often still locked years later, and we buy them: a fixed amount, shown in pounds before you commit to anything, comes off the quote, which is what a locked phone costs us to deal with. You can keep that money, because the unlock is free from your own network: ask them, and it is usually done within a day or two. It has to be you who asks, as the account holder, which is why we cannot do it for you. Unlock it before you post the phone, answer unlocked, and the full price is yours. From the iPhone 13 onwards handsets are nearly always sold unlocked, so this is mostly a question for phones the age of the iPhone 12.

Do I need to switch off Find My before selling my iPhone 12?

Find My must be switched off before we can buy the iPhone 12: it is Apple's Activation Lock, and a locked phone cannot be erased to standard or sold on. Settings does it while the phone is with you, and iCloud.com does it once it is posted. Arrive locked and we hold the phone for 14 days so you have the chance to remove it.

What if my iPhone 12 will not turn on?

We do not quote for one, for a reason we would rather say plainly: a phone that will not power on cannot be tested, and it cannot be verifiably erased, which means it would leave here carrying your data. Your council's recycling centre or an Apple store will take it, both free of charge.

How fast will I be paid for my iPhone 12, and can the offer drop?

We inspect within one working day of the phone arriving and pay by bank transfer within 48 hours of it arriving. If your iPhone 12 does not match your answers, we do not quietly cut the payment. You get a revised offer with the reason, and you can accept it or have the phone returned free of charge.
