Selling a cracked or broken iPhone 13 mini? A cracked iPhone with a good screen is Picture fine. A broken screen, lines, blotches or a replacement display, is Picture faulty. A smashed one with a cracked back or Face ID not working can be either; a phone that won't charge is one we cannot buy.

The iPhone 13 mini went on sale in September 2021 with a 5.4 inch OLED screen, which makes it about 5 years old. This is the age where one is worth more to somebody who repairs phones than to anybody who scraps them, working or not. Get your price in a minute and post it free.

What we know about the iPhone 13 mini

The last mini Apple made. Nothing has replaced it, which keeps demand for good ones steadier than the age of the phone would suggest.

The battery, and it is the reason most 13 minis get sold. Apple made it bigger than the 12 mini's, but it is still the smallest in the range, and a small battery gets charged more often and wears through its cycles faster.

Is this the phone you have?

5.4 inches, and the last small iPhone anybody made. Its two rear lenses sit diagonally where the 12 mini's sit one above the other, and its notch is narrower. Those two things are the difference from the outside.

If the screen has gone

The iPhone 13 mini has a 5.4 inch Super Retina XDR OLED. On a screen this size the panel is a smaller share of what the phone is worth, so a crack costs you less here than you may be bracing for.

With the picture still good, a cracked one runs 128 GB £49, 256 GB £59 and 512 GB £59. If the display itself is damaged rather than the glass over it, a 128 GB is £14.

A faulty display leaves 26 per cent of the working price on a 128 GB, less than most of the phones we buy. What a broken iPhone 13 mini is worth goes through every capacity.

Exact price for your size

This model came in 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. Nothing changes between them but capacity: the same 5.4 inch screen, the same cameras and the same battery in all three.

Working, this model runs 128 GB £54, 256 GB £64 and 512 GB £64. At 128 GB, the iPhone 12 Pro Max pays £45 more and the iPhone 13 pays £50 more.

USING ITITS WHOLE LIFE85%spent making it85%spent making it

Making a phone is where the damage is. Not using it. Which is why the greenest phone is one that already exists.

Selling this phone keeps roughly 52 kg of CO2e worth of manufacturing in use.

Where this figure comes from

Apple publishes a lifecycle footprint of 61 kg CO2e for a 128GB iPhone 13 mini, from mining the materials to recycling the phone. Apple states 85 per cent production. That share of 61 kg is 52 kg.

Keeping a working iPhone 13 mini going displaces the manufacture of a new one, so we quote the 52 kg rather than the whole 61 kg. Charging it, shipping it and recycling it happen either way.

It says roughly because it assumes your iPhone 13 mini replaces one that would otherwise have been built. Apple's 61 kg is for the 128GB model as published in September 2021, and a larger size carries a larger footprint.

For a sense of scale, that is the same quantity of CO2e as driving about 190 miles in an average car.

Apple, Product Environmental Report: iPhone 13 mini, September 2021. Mileage at 0.26915 kg CO2e per mile, UK Government conversion factors 2025.

Questions people ask before selling

What is an iPhone 13 mini worth right now?

The quote above answers it exactly, and two things move the number. Size counts here, so check yours in Settings, General, About. Then condition, and the glass and the picture count separately: cracked glass with a good picture underneath is our middle grade, and a fault in the picture itself is the bottom one. Ordering locks your price for 10 days.

What does my iPhone 13 mini need to do for you to buy it?

It has to switch on, charge, and work. Under 80% battery is priced as Picture fine. Works fine: no cracks, everything works, battery 80% or above. Picture fine: LCD is good, front or back glass can be smashed, and Face ID, a camera, sound or a button can be broken. Picture faulty: bad LCD, or an aftermarket screen, with the same faults allowed.

What counts as Works fine for an iPhone 13 mini?

No cracks front or back, everything works, battery health 80 per cent or above. That is the full price for your size, shown at the top of this page.

What counts as Picture fine for an iPhone 13 mini?

The LCD is good: original screen, perfect picture, and the front or back glass can be smashed. A crack free phone with a battery under 80 per cent is priced here too. Face ID, a camera, sound or a button can be broken. Its price is the middle figure above.

What counts as Picture faulty for an iPhone 13 mini?

Lines, bleeding, dead patches or ghost touch on the display, or a non original screen fitted. The phone must switch on and charge; a phone that will not is covered below.

My iPhone 13 mini has a cracked screen. Do I get next to nothing for it?

Quite the opposite: a cracked iPhone 13 mini with a working picture is the exact phone this business was built to buy. Think of the glass and the picture as two separate things. Broken glass over a perfect picture is what we call "picture fine", which sounds odd until you know that screen there means the picture, not the glass. It is our middle grade rather than our bottom one. The bottom grade is for a display with a fault of its own, lines, blotches, blank patches, or touch that ignores your finger, and for a screen already swapped for a non original one. A cracked back sits in the same grade as a cracked front, and both figures are on the quote above.

Does low battery health matter on an iPhone 13 mini?

It decides the grade, so check Settings, Battery before you answer the quote questions. At 80 per cent or above, with no cracks or faults, your iPhone 13 mini is Working grade. Below 80 per cent it counts as Picture fine, which is a real price rather than a penalty, and the number is on your screen before you post the phone.

Can I sell an iPhone 13 mini that is locked to a network?

We do buy network locked phones, and an iPhone 13 mini bought on contract may well be one: before the December 2021 ban on locked handsets, contract phones often stayed locked for years without their owners knowing. For a locked one, a fixed amount, shown in pounds before you commit to anything, comes off the quote, the cost to us of dealing with the lock. The better answer costs nothing: as the account holder you can ask your network to unlock it free, usually within a day or two, something we are not allowed to do on your behalf. Do it before you post it, answer unlocked in the quote flow, and you keep the whole price. Phones from the iPhone 13 onwards are nearly always unlocked already, so this mostly matters for models this age.

Do I need to switch off Find My before selling my iPhone 13 mini?

It has to come off, because Find My is Apple's Activation Lock and nobody can wipe or resell a phone that still has it switched on. Do it in Settings before you post the iPhone 13 mini, or sign in at iCloud.com and remove the device afterwards. A phone that arrives locked is held for 14 days to give you time to sort it.

What if my iPhone 13 mini will not turn on?

We do not quote for one, for a reason we would rather say plainly: a phone that will not power on cannot be tested, and it cannot be verifiably erased, which means it would leave here carrying your data. Your council's recycling centre or an Apple store will take it, both free of charge.

How fast will I be paid for my iPhone 13 mini, and can the offer drop?

We check the iPhone 13 mini within one working day of it arriving and pay by bank transfer within 48 hours of it arriving. If the phone does not match your answers, you get a revised offer and the reason for it, never a silent deduction. Turn the revised offer down and the phone comes back to you free.
