£14 with the picture gone, 128 GB

Sell your broken
iPhone 13 mini.

A 128 GB with a faulty display is £14, which is 26 per cent of what we pay for the same phone in one piece. There is enough in an iPhone 13 mini to be worth the bench time and not so much that the repair vanishes into it, which is what that share reflects.

Condition

What the damage costs you

Start at £54, which is what a perfect 128 GB fetches. Break the glass and leave the picture alone and you are at £49, down £5. Break the picture, so lines or blotches or nothing at all, and you are at £14, down £40 from where you started. The crack costs something, and a faulty picture costs a good deal more, so it is worth knowing which you have.

Those are 128 GB prices, the bottom of this model's range, so a larger one is worth more rather than less. On an OLED a failing panel shows as a dark blotch, a burnt in shadow of the keyboard, or a line of pixels that has simply stopped. When it is genuinely a toss up, choose the lower grade and let the bench correct it upwards. Our three grades, explained properly.

Where the iPhone 13 mini sits

That makes the iPhone 13 mini less than most of the phones we buy. Every other model we buy holds a larger share.

That is not one model being lucky. Sorted by price, the 32 we can price broken fall into two camps: the cheap ones average about 41 per cent kept, the ones from £120 upwards average about 57 per cent, and what separates them is what the working phone is worth rather than what its screen is made of.

The reason is not the screen, it is the sums. A display, a test, an erase and a dispatch cost about the same on any phone at all, and against what an iPhone 13 mini fetches those fixed costs are a large share. The cheaper the phone, the less of it survives the damage.

Worth knowing before you send it

The battery, and it is the reason most 13 minis get sold. Apple made it bigger than the 12 mini's, but it is still the smallest in the range, and a small battery gets charged more often and wears through its cycles faster.

Sure it is this one?

5.4 inches, and the last small iPhone anybody made. Its two rear lenses sit diagonally where the 12 mini's sit one above the other, and its notch is narrower. Those two things are the difference from the outside.

Every size, broken

Picture gone, this model runs 128 GB £14, 256 GB £19 and 512 GB £19.

Cracked with the picture good, 128 GB £49, 256 GB £59 and 512 GB £59.

The iPhone 13 mini in one paragraph

The last mini Apple made. Nothing has replaced it, which keeps demand for good ones steadier than the age of the phone would suggest.

What happens to a broken one here

One of these is still somebody's next phone once the screen is on it, which is the whole reason a broken one is worth a proper number. We repair what can be repaired, take the parts off what cannot, and sell direct rather than down a chain that each takes a cut.

The label is tracked and insured to the value of the quote, the check takes a working day, and the money follows within 48 hours of the phone arriving it.

Questions about broken phones, from wiping one you cannot unlock to what happens if we disagree with your grade, are answered on the broken iPhone page. The whole of this model, working or not, is on the iPhone 13 mini page. Still deciding? How to get your phone ready to send.
