Sell your broken
iPhone 12 Pro.
Even with nothing on the screen at all, a 128 GB is £32. That is 43 per cent of the working price rather than the nothing you may have been expecting. An iPhone 12 Pro sits where a broken one is worth repairing rather than stripping, which is the difference between a price and a scrap value.

What the damage costs you
Start at £74, which is what a perfect 128 GB fetches. Break the glass and leave the picture alone and you are at £73, down £1. Break the picture, so lines or blotches or nothing at all, and you are at £32, down £42 from where you started. Cracked glass over a working picture is close to free here, which is not true at most places you could send it.
The 128 GB is the smallest this phone was sold in and these are its prices, so nothing above can catch you out. On an OLED a failing panel shows as a dark blotch, a burnt in shadow of the keyboard, or a line of pixels that has simply stopped. Unsure? The lower grade is the safe answer, because we revise upwards without being asked and downwards only in writing. Our three grades, explained properly.
Where the iPhone 12 Pro sits
That makes the iPhone 12 Pro a little below the middle of our range. Of the 32 models with a page like this one, 23 hold a larger share and 6 hold less.
Across the 32 iPhones we buy and can price broken, the ones worth under £50 working keep about 41 per cent of that price with the picture gone, and the ones worth £120 or more keep about 57 per cent. It is the value of the phone that decides it, not the kind of screen in it.
Here the cost of the work is starting to be felt. A panel and an afternoon are the same price on an iPhone 12 Pro as on a phone worth three times as much, and against this one they take a visible bite, which is why it does not sit up with the dearest models.
Worth knowing before you send it
The same no sound service programme Apple announced for the iPhone 12 covers the 12 Pro, for units built between October 2020 and April 2021. A phone with that fault is still a phone we want.
The small dark circle beside the lenses is the LiDAR Scanner, which this phone introduced, and you can check it without any tools. Open the Measure app and frame someone standing, head to toe: with a working scanner a line settles on top of their head and their height appears under it, something only LiDAR phones can do. Apple also uses the scanner for Night mode portraits, so a portrait in a dim room is a second check, and tap 2 to make sure the telephoto is sharp. Its band is surgical grade stainless steel, so look along the corners for dents. If you are unsure of the model, pacific blue is a strong clue: it was a 12 Pro colour, shared only with the 12 Pro Max.
Sure it is this one?
Three rear cameras on a 6.1 inch flat sided phone, with a small dark circle beside them: that circle is the LiDAR scanner and the plain 12 does not have one. The 12 Pro Max is the same arrangement at 6.7 inches.
Every size, broken
Picture gone, this model runs 128 GB £32, 256 GB £62 and 512 GB £62.
Cracked with the picture good, 128 GB £73, 256 GB £74 and 512 GB £74.
The iPhone 12 Pro in one paragraph
The first iPhone with a LiDAR scanner on the back, which is a part with a second life of its own.
What happens to a broken one here
At this age it goes one of two ways, decided at the bench rather than in advance. Sound underneath, it gets a screen and becomes somebody's next phone. Not sound, and the board, the cameras and the housing go on the parts shelf for the ones that are.
The label is tracked and insured to the value of the quote, the check takes a working day, and the money follows within 48 hours of the phone arriving it.
Questions about broken phones, from wiping one you cannot unlock to what happens if we disagree with your grade, are answered on the broken iPhone page. The whole of this model, working or not, is on the iPhone 12 Pro page. Still deciding? How to check your iPhone storage size.
