256 GB.
The 256 GB is the smallest iPhone 17 Pro Apple sold, so this is the bottom of the range for this phone. Every larger size is worth more. All three prices below are for the 256 GB and confirmed before you post anything.

Battery health 80% or more?
Settings, Battery, Battery Health. Ten seconds. Under 80 counts as Picture fine. Not sure is fine, we test it here.

Not sure which one is yours? Picture fine means the picture is perfect however the glass looks. Picture faulty means the display itself is faulty or has been replaced. Hidden faults, battery to Face ID, are accepted in both. Our three grades, explained properly.
Is the 256 GB worth checking?
Working, the 512 GB pays £34 more and the 1 TB pays £82 more. At the same capacity, the iPhone Air pays £172 less and the iPhone 17 Pro Max pays £83 more.
With cracked glass and a good picture the same 256 GB is £501, and with a bad LCD or a replacement screen it is £288, so the cracked glass costs you £22 at this size rather than the whole value of the phone.
The same 256 GB in the models either side: iPhone Air 256 GB, iPhone 17 Pro Max 256 GB.
If Settings, General, About shows a Capacity other than 256 GB, use one of these instead: 512 GB, 1 TB.
256 GB, translated into things you own
After the operating system takes its cut you are looking at roughly 230 GB of usable room. Filling that takes commitment: about 22 hours of 4K footage at Apple's estimated 170 MB a minute, or a photo library well past seventy thousand pictures. Apps stop being part of the sum altogether, since even a heavy handful of games disappears into headroom like this. Plenty of 256 GB phones go their whole first life without coming near the ceiling.
Where the size does bite is on sending day. If yours actually is loaded, budget hours rather than minutes for the backup: a couple of hundred gigabytes over home Wi-Fi is a slow crawl, so set it going when the postage pack arrives rather than when you want to head to the post office.
From here the iPhone 17 Pro only goes up
There is no cheaper size of this phone, so 256 GB is its baseline and the 512 GB sits £34 above it at Working grade. As a share of what the phone is worth, that step is far smaller than the one Apple charged when it was new, typically two hundred pounds at this end of the range, because a used buyer prices the phone first and the headroom second.
It also means the figure on this page is not a consolation number. It is the model's floor, with every other configuration priced up from exactly here.
One thing about the sizes
It starts at 256 GB. There is no 128 GB version of this phone.
Worth knowing before you send it
Nothing has emerged as a pattern on a phone this recent. What we can tell you is that its 6.3 inch 120 Hz display is one of the dearest parts in this whole list, which is precisely why a smashed 17 Pro is worth a proper price and not the scrap value other sites will quote you.
Is this the iPhone 17 Pro you have?
6.3 inches, three rear cameras, and an aluminium body after two years of titanium Pros. The plain 17 is the same screen size with two lenses. The 17 Pro Max is this phone at 6.9 inches.
iPhone 17 Pro prices by size
| Size | Working | Faulty / Damaged - Screen Fine | Faulty / Damaged - Screen Bad |
|---|---|---|---|
| 256 GB this page | £523 | £501 | £288 |
| 512 GB | £557 | £501 | £352 |
| 1 TB | £605 | £554 | £352 |
£523 is locked for 10 days. Postage and the postage pack are free, and a phone that does not match its grade gets a revised offer you can turn down.

The 256 GB question
What is an iPhone 17 Pro 256 GB worth right now?
The size half of it is settled by the page you are on: the 256 GB is the bottom rung of this model's ladder, and every larger size pays more. Everything after that is condition. Glass and picture are graded separately here, so a cracked 256 GB whose picture is still perfect prices in the middle rather than at the bottom, and only a display faulty in itself goes lower. A battery under 80 per cent lands in that same middle grade. Whichever of the three figures above turns out to be yours is locked for 10 days once you order.
Cracked screens, battery health, Find My and how fast you are paid are answered on the iPhone 17 Pro page.
