Sell your iPhone 17
256 GB.

The 256 GB is the smallest iPhone 17 Apple sold, so this is the bottom of the range for this phone. Every larger size is worth more. All three prices below are for the 256 GB and confirmed before you post anything.

iPhone 17, September 2025, 6.3 inch Super Retina XDR OLED at 120 Hz. This page is the 256 GB one.

Is the 256 GB worth checking?

Working, the 512 GB pays £30 more. At the same capacity, the iPhone 17e pays £106 less and the iPhone Air pays £21 more.

With cracked glass and a good picture the same 256 GB is £306, and with a bad LCD or a replacement screen it is £201, so the cracked glass costs you £24 at this size rather than the whole value of the phone.

The same 256 GB in the models either side: iPhone 17e 256 GB, iPhone Air 256 GB.

If Settings, General, About shows a Capacity other than 256 GB, use one of these instead: 512 GB.

256 GB, translated into things you own

After the operating system takes its cut you are looking at roughly 230 GB of usable room. Filling that takes commitment: about 22 hours of 4K footage at Apple's estimated 170 MB a minute, or a photo library well past seventy thousand pictures. Apps stop being part of the sum altogether, since even a heavy handful of games disappears into headroom like this. Plenty of 256 GB phones go their whole first life without coming near the ceiling.

Where the size does bite is on sending day. If yours actually is loaded, budget hours rather than minutes for the backup: a couple of hundred gigabytes over home Wi-Fi is a slow crawl, so set it going when the postage pack arrives rather than when you want to head to the post office.

From here the iPhone 17 only goes up

There is no cheaper size of this phone, so 256 GB is its baseline and the 512 GB sits £30 above it at Working grade. As a share of what the phone is worth, that step is far smaller than the one Apple charged when it was new, typically two hundred pounds at this end of the range, because a used buyer prices the phone first and the headroom second.

It also means the figure on this page is not a consolation number. It is the model's floor, with every other configuration priced up from exactly here.

One thing about the sizes

Two sizes only, and it starts at 256 GB. There is no 128 GB iPhone 17, so if yours says 128 GB it is an earlier model.

Worth knowing before you send it

Too recent for a pattern, and we are not going to guess at one. What is worth knowing is that its 120 Hz panel is a Pro grade part fitted to a phone that is not a Pro, so a broken 17 screen costs more to replace than a broken 16 screen and is worth more to us.

Is this the iPhone 17 you have?

6.3 inches with two rear cameras. The 16 of the year before is the same two lenses on a 6.1 inch body, so this is the visibly larger of the pair, and the 17 Pro of the same year has three lenses rather than two.

The 256 GB question

What is an iPhone 17 256 GB worth right now?

The size half of it is settled by the page you are on: the 256 GB is the bottom rung of this model's ladder, and every larger size pays more. Everything after that is condition. Glass and picture are graded separately here, so a cracked 256 GB whose picture is still perfect prices in the middle rather than at the bottom, and only a display faulty in itself goes lower. A battery under 80 per cent lands in that same middle grade. Whichever of the three figures above turns out to be yours is locked for 10 days once you order.

Cracked screens, battery health, Find My and how fast you are paid are answered on the iPhone 17 page.
