Sell your broken
iPhone 11 Pro.
A 64 GB with a faulty display is £14, which is 29 per cent of what we pay for the same phone in one piece. Nobody is going to retire on that. It is still more than the nothing you are offered everywhere that treats a broken screen as the end of the conversation.

What the damage costs you
Working, a 64 GB iPhone 11 Pro pays £49. Glass cracked, picture still perfect: £48, so the crack costs you £1. Picture gone, meaning lines, blots, blank patches or a black screen: £14, so the display costs you £35. Cracked glass over a working picture is close to free here, which is not true at most places you could send it.
Those are 64 GB prices, the bottom of this model's range, so a larger one is worth more rather than less. On an OLED a failing panel shows as a dark blotch, a burnt in shadow of the keyboard, or a line of pixels that has simply stopped. When it is genuinely a toss up, choose the lower grade and let the bench correct it upwards. Our three grades, explained properly.
Where the iPhone 11 Pro sits
That makes the iPhone 11 Pro less than most of the phones we buy. Of the 32 models with a page like this one, 27 hold a larger share and 2 hold less.
Run the same sum over all 32 of them and a shape appears. Under £50 working, a faulty picture leaves about 41 per cent. At £120 and up it leaves about 57 per cent. The panel has nothing to do with it; the price of the phone has everything to do with it.
The reason is not the screen, it is the sums. A display, a test, an erase and a dispatch cost about the same on any phone at all, and against what an iPhone 11 Pro fetches those fixed costs are a large share. The cheaper the phone, the less of it survives the damage.
Worth knowing before you send it
On every iPhone before the 14, a cracked back means replacing the entire chassis rather than a single pane of glass, so back damage costs far more to put right than it looks like it should. We buy them broken anyway.
Three lenses mean three separate checks, and a fall onto the back can take out one while the other two carry on. Open Camera and work through every zoom setting. The 2 is the telephoto, the lens that set this phone apart from the two lens 11, and a blur, a dark smudge or a crack in its sapphire cover shows up straight away. Tilt the textured matte back under a lamp so the light catches any fine line in it, and feel round the polished stainless steel band, corners especially, for any dent. Lay it on a Qi charging pad for a minute to confirm wireless charging still starts. Apple offered midnight green on this phone and the 6.5 inch Max, and never on any other iPhone, so that colour alone narrows it down.
Sure it is this one?
5.8 inches, three rear cameras and a matte back that does not take fingerprints. The plain 11 is bigger, glossy and has two lenses. The 11 Pro Max is this same phone at 6.5 inches, so the size in your hand decides which of the two you have.
Every size, broken
Picture gone, this model runs 64 GB £14, 256 GB £19 and 512 GB £19.
Cracked with the picture good, 64 GB £48, 256 GB £58 and 512 GB £61.
The iPhone 11 Pro in one paragraph
The first iPhone with three rear cameras, and the smallest screen of any Pro model Apple has made.
What happens to a broken one here
Which way an iPhone 11 Pro goes is settled once it is open, not before. If what is behind the screen is healthy it gets a new panel and a new owner. If it is not, what works comes off it and keeps other phones of the same age running.
Postage and the pack are free whatever it turns out to be worth, it is checked within a working day, and you are paid within 48 hours of it arriving.
Questions about broken phones, from wiping one you cannot unlock to what happens if we disagree with your grade, are answered on the broken iPhone page. The whole of this model, working or not, is on the iPhone 11 Pro page. Still deciding? Selling an iPhone with Face ID not working: yes, and here is how.
