£19 with the picture gone, 64 GB

Sell your broken
iPhone 11.

Smashed, with the picture gone altogether, a 64 GB is worth £19 here: 56 per cent of what the same phone pays working. Not a fortune, and we will not dress it up as one. It is real money for a phone most places refuse to quote on at all once you say the screen has gone.

What the damage costs you

Working, a 64 GB iPhone 11 pays £34. Glass cracked, picture still perfect: £29, so the crack costs you £5. Picture gone, meaning lines, blots, blank patches or a black screen: £19, so the display costs you £15. The crack costs something, and a faulty picture costs a good deal more, so it is worth knowing which you have.

Shown for the 64 GB, the smallest this model came in, so nothing here is higher than the phone you have. On an LCD a bad one usually announces itself: white patches, a washed out area, or backlight bleeding at an edge. If you cannot tell, pick the lower grade: a phone that turns out better than you described is upgraded at the bench. Our three grades, explained properly.

Where the iPhone 11 sits

That makes the iPhone 11 a little below the middle of our range. Of the 32 models with a page like this one, 16 hold a larger share and 15 hold less.

Across the 32 iPhones we buy and can price broken, the ones worth under £50 working keep about 41 per cent of that price with the picture gone, and the ones worth £120 or more keep about 57 per cent. It is the value of the phone that decides it, not the kind of screen in it.

An iPhone 11 is on the side of the line where the bench time starts to show. The repair costs what it costs whatever the phone is worth, and on this one it is a noticeable slice rather than a rounding error, which is why the share sits where it does.

Worth knowing before you send it

Apple ran a display module replacement programme for iPhone 11 units built between November 2019 and May 2020, where the screen stops responding to touch. If that is what yours does, it is a documented fault and we already know about it.

Apple milled the back of the 11 from a single sheet of glass, so look over the whole of it, the raised camera square too, at an angle under a lamp. Then try each lens on its own: tap 0.5 to reach the ultra wide, then 1 for the main camera, and both should give a clean, sharp frame. QuickTake is new to this generation too: hold the shutter button in Photo mode and a video starts, and playing that clip back is a quick way to hear whether the microphones survived. Last, the Ring/Silent switch: flick it, and orange showing on the switch means silent. It was sold in six colours, purple, green and yellow among them, always with an aluminium band.

Sure it is this one?

Two cameras in a raised square of glass, on a 6.1 inch phone with rounded sides and a glossy back. The XR before it has one lens in the same body. The 11 Pro has three lenses on a smaller phone with a frosted, matte back.

Every size, broken

Picture gone, this model runs 64 GB £19, 128 GB £19 and 256 GB £19.

Cracked with the picture good, 64 GB £29, 128 GB £39 and 256 GB £41.

The iPhone 11 in one paragraph

The last iPhone with an LCD screen apart from the two SE models, and the last one with rounded sides.

What happens to a broken one here

At this age a broken one is usually worth more in pieces than whole, and that is not a sad ending. Panels, batteries and camera modules from it are shared with a great many phones still in daily use, so they go back out into other people's repairs.

Postage and the pack are free whatever it turns out to be worth, it is checked within a working day, and you are paid within 48 hours of it arriving.

Questions about broken phones, from wiping one you cannot unlock to what happens if we disagree with your grade, are answered on the broken iPhone page. The whole of this model, working or not, is on the iPhone 11 page. Still deciding? How to check your iPhone storage size.

Over £120 working they cluster near the top; under £50 they fall away.
