Selling a cracked or broken iPhone 16? A cracked iPhone with a good screen is Picture fine. A broken screen, lines, blotches or a replacement display, is Picture faulty. A smashed one with a cracked back or Face ID not working can be either; a phone that won't charge is one we cannot buy.
The iPhone 16 went on sale in September 2024 with a 6.1 inch OLED screen, which makes it about 2 years old. On a phone this new the details set the price, so we ask about them before you post it rather than after it lands. Get your price in a minute and post it free.

Not sure which one is yours? Picture fine means the picture is perfect however the glass looks. Picture faulty means the display itself is faulty or has been replaced. Hidden faults, battery to Face ID, are accepted in both. Our three grades, explained properly.
Prices shown for 128 GB, the smallest this model came in. A working 512 GB pays £25 more.
What we know about the iPhone 16
The first non Pro iPhone with the Action button in place of the mute switch, which had been a Pro feature for a year before it.
The Camera Control on the right hand edge is a pressure sensitive part where nothing used to be, and it is a separate repair from the screen. If yours has stopped responding, tell us that rather than grading the phone as a bad display.
Is this the phone you have?
6.1 inches with its two rear cameras in a tall pill shaped bump rather than the square one on the 15. There is a button where the mute switch used to be, and a second, flush button low on the right hand edge for the camera.
If the screen has gone
The iPhone 16 has a 6.1 inch Super Retina XDR OLED. A broken one is not scrap. The board, the cameras and the battery are untouched, and the panel itself is a part another iPhone 16 needs.
With the picture still good, a cracked one runs 128 GB £270, 256 GB £280 and 512 GB £285. If the display itself is damaged rather than the glass over it, a 128 GB is £176.
With the picture gone a 128 GB keeps 63 per cent of that, one of the better ones on this site. What a broken iPhone 16 is worth takes it size by size.
Exact price for your size
This model came in 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. Nothing changes between them but capacity: the same 6.1 inch screen, the same cameras and the same battery in all three.
Working, this model runs 128 GB £280, 256 GB £300 and 512 GB £305. At 128 GB, the iPhone 16e pays £140 less and the iPhone 16 Plus pays the same.
Why sell your iPhone 16 to ReMint?
An iPhone 16 has most of its life still in front of it and is priced here accordingly, with nobody standing between us and whoever ends up owning it.
Free tracked postage, checked within a working day, paid within 48 hours of it arriving, erased to recognised standards with the record kept.
Making a phone is where the damage is. Not using it. Which is why the greenest phone is one that already exists.
Selling this phone keeps roughly 45 kg of CO2e worth of manufacturing in use.
Where this figure comes from
Apple publishes a lifecycle footprint of 56 kg CO2e for a 128GB iPhone 16, from mining the materials to recycling the phone. Apple states 80 per cent production. That share of 56 kg is 45 kg.
Keeping a working iPhone 16 going displaces the manufacture of a new one, so we quote the 45 kg rather than the whole 56 kg. Charging it, shipping it and recycling it happen either way.
It says roughly because it assumes your iPhone 16 replaces one that would otherwise have been built. Apple's 56 kg is for the 128GB model as published in September 2024, and a larger size carries a larger footprint.
For a sense of scale, that is the same quantity of CO2e as driving about 170 miles in an average car.
Apple, Product Environmental Report: iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, September 2024. Mileage at 0.26915 kg CO2e per mile, UK Government conversion factors 2025.
Questions people ask before selling
What is an iPhone 16 worth right now?
Size and condition, in that order. The sizes do not price the same on this model, so look yours up in Settings, General, About rather than guessing. Then condition, where the glass and the picture count separately: cracked glass with a perfect picture underneath is our middle grade (Picture fine), a faulty picture is our bottom grade, and battery health below 80 per cent goes in the middle grade too. The calculator on this page prices your exact combination, and once you order that price holds for 10 days.
What does my iPhone 16 need to do for you to buy it?
It has to switch on, charge, and work. Under 80% battery is priced as Picture fine. Works fine: no cracks, everything works, battery 80% or above. Picture fine: LCD is good, front or back glass can be smashed, and Face ID, a camera, sound or a button can be broken. Picture faulty: bad LCD, or an aftermarket screen, with the same faults allowed.
What counts as Works fine for an iPhone 16?
Everything works, nothing is cracked and the battery reads 80 per cent or more. Your size's full price is at the head of this page.
What counts as Picture fine for an iPhone 16?
The LCD is good: original screen, perfect picture, and the front or back glass can be smashed. A crack free phone with a battery under 80 per cent is priced here too. Face ID, a camera, sound or a button can be broken. Its price is the middle figure above.
What counts as Picture faulty for an iPhone 16?
The picture itself is wrong on this iPhone 16, or the screen is not original; Face ID, a camera or a button can be broken as well. That is our bottom grade, and it still pays real money because the rest of the phone keeps its value.
My iPhone 16 has a cracked screen. Do I get next to nothing for it?
No, and this is the thing we do differently. Your phone has two layers: the glass on top, and the picture underneath it. If the glass is cracked but the picture is still perfect, we call that "picture fine", because the part that shows you things is fine. That is our middle grade, not our bottom one, and a cracked iPhone 16 with a perfect picture prices there. The bottom grade is for a fault in the picture itself: lines, blotches, blank patches, touch that does not respond, or a screen somebody has already replaced with a non original part. A cracked back counts the same as a cracked front. The quote on this page prices every grade.
Does low battery health matter on an iPhone 16?
Only at the 80 per cent line, and a phone as recent as the iPhone 16 is usually still above it. Have a look in Settings, Battery before you choose a grade: at 80 per cent or better, with no cracks or faults, it is Working. Below that it counts as Picture fine, and the quote shows you the difference before you commit to anything.
Can I sell an iPhone 16 that is locked to a network?
You can: we buy network locked phones. Check the lock is really there first though, because it probably is not: selling locked handsets has been banned in the UK since December 2021, so phones from the iPhone 13 onwards, your iPhone 16 included, are nearly always unlocked already. If yours is locked, a fixed amount, shown in pounds before you commit to anything, comes off the quote. Or keep the whole price: ask your network to unlock it before you post it, which is free, usually done within a day or two, and something only the account holder can do, so we cannot do it for you. Not sure is still an honest answer in the quote flow; nothing comes off for it, and if the phone turns out to be locked we tell you before anything else happens.
Do I need to switch off Find My before selling my iPhone 16?
Find My must be switched off before we can buy the iPhone 16: it is Apple's Activation Lock, and a locked phone cannot be erased to standard or sold on. Settings does it while the phone is with you, and iCloud.com does it once it is posted. Arrive locked and we hold the phone for 14 days so you have the chance to remove it.
What if my iPhone 16 will not turn on?
No price on that one, because with an iPhone 16 that will not switch on we cannot verify what is wrong or erase it to standard. Rather than guess at a number we say so. Apple stores and council recycling centres both take it free, and neither will try to sell you anything.
How fast will I be paid for my iPhone 16, and can the offer drop?
Inspection happens within one working day of arrival, and the money follows by bank transfer within 48 hours of the phone arriving. If the iPhone 16 in front of us does not match what you told us, the price does not just shrink: we send a revised offer with an explanation, and you choose between taking it and having the phone back free.
If you are still weighing it up
Three things people ask before selling a iPhone 16, answered properly rather than in a sentence.
- How to check your iPhone storage size Open Settings, General, About and read the Capacity line. That is your storage size: 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB. It takes ten seconds.
- When is the best time to sell your iPhone? Timing matters more than most people think. September is the month to watch.
- Our three grades, explained properly Working, picture fine, picture faulty. Which one is yours, and why the difference is all about the display.
