Sell your broken
iPhone 16.
A 128 GB with a faulty display is £176, which is 63 per cent of what we pay for the same phone in one piece. An iPhone 16 is dear enough that a broken one still has a great deal of phone left in it, and the number says so.

What the damage costs you
Three figures, and the gaps between them are the point. £280 if it is perfect. £270 once the front glass has gone but the display under it still draws a clean image, a drop of £10. £176 once the image itself is wrong, which is £104 off the top. Cracked glass over a working picture is close to free here, which is not true at most places you could send it.
The 128 GB is the smallest this phone was sold in and these are its prices, so nothing above can catch you out. On an OLED a failing panel shows as a dark blotch, a burnt in shadow of the keyboard, or a line of pixels that has simply stopped. Unsure? The lower grade is the safe answer, because we revise upwards without being asked and downwards only in writing. Our three grades, explained properly.
Where the iPhone 16 sits
That makes the iPhone 16 one of the better ones on this site. Put the 32 models we can price broken in order and it lands with 4 above it and 25 below.
Run the same sum over all 32 of them and a shape appears. Under £50 working, a faulty picture leaves about 41 per cent. At £120 and up it leaves about 57 per cent. The panel has nothing to do with it; the price of the phone has everything to do with it.
The screen is the part that meets the floor and very little else does. On an iPhone 16 the board, the cameras and the battery are almost always fine afterwards, and since they are most of the value of the phone, most of the value survives.
Worth knowing before you send it
The Camera Control on the right hand edge is a pressure sensitive part where nothing used to be, and it is a separate repair from the screen. If yours has stopped responding, tell us that rather than grading the phone as a bad display.
Two parts arrived on this phone that the 15 never had, and both deserve a minute. The flush Camera Control low on the right edge should open the camera with one click, take a photo with the next, and record video while held. The ultra wide lens gained autofocus with this model, which is what lets it shoot macro, so hold the phone a few centimetres from small print and the close up should come out crisp; one that will not sharpen is worth a mention. Its two lenses are now stacked vertically, and the 16 can capture spatial photos and video. Of its five colours, ultramarine and teal were offered on the 16 and 16 Plus and on no other iPhone.
Sure it is this one?
6.1 inches with its two rear cameras in a tall pill shaped bump rather than the square one on the 15. There is a button where the mute switch used to be, and a second, flush button low on the right hand edge for the camera.
Every size, broken
Picture gone, this model runs 128 GB £176, 256 GB £186 and 512 GB £201.
Cracked with the picture good, 128 GB £270, 256 GB £280 and 512 GB £285.
The iPhone 16 in one paragraph
The first non Pro iPhone with the Action button in place of the mute switch, which had been a Pro feature for a year before it.
What happens to a broken one here
It is recent enough that a broken one is a repair rather than a donor, and it is priced on that basis. The screen goes on, the phone is checked, erased and sold, and your damage changes the cost of one part.
Postage and the pack are free whatever it turns out to be worth, it is checked within a working day, and you are paid within 48 hours of it arriving.
The practical questions, erasing a phone you cannot see, posting a bad crack safely, changing your mind, are on the broken iPhone page. For the phone rather than the breakage, see the iPhone 16 page. Still deciding? When is the best time to sell your iPhone?.

The share beside each name is what that model keeps. Notice how little the panel has to do with the order.
