Sell your broken
iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Even with nothing on the screen at all, a 256 GB is £251. That is 58 per cent of the working price rather than the nothing you may have been expecting. An iPhone 16 Pro Max is dear enough that a broken one still has a great deal of phone left in it, and the number says so.

What the damage costs you
Start at £435, which is what a perfect 256 GB fetches. Break the glass and leave the picture alone and you are at £414, down £21. Break the picture, so lines or blotches or nothing at all, and you are at £251, down £184 from where you started. Cracked glass over a working picture is close to free here, which is not true at most places you could send it.
Shown for the 256 GB, the smallest this model came in, so nothing here is higher than the phone you have. On a panel this good a fault is obvious once you look: a green or pink cast, a band that will not refresh, or a line that stays put while everything else moves. If you cannot tell, pick the lower grade: a phone that turns out better than you described is upgraded at the bench. Our three grades, explained properly.
Where the iPhone 16 Pro Max sits
That makes the iPhone 16 Pro Max a little above the middle of our range. Put the 32 models we can price broken in order and it lands with 13 above it and 16 below.
Run the same sum over all 32 of them and a shape appears. Under £50 working, a faulty picture leaves about 41 per cent. At £120 and up it leaves about 57 per cent. The panel has nothing to do with it; the price of the phone has everything to do with it.
The arithmetic behind it is dull and worth knowing. Fitting a panel, testing, erasing and dispatching cost about the same on any phone. An iPhone 16 Pro Max is worth enough for those fixed costs to be a modest share of it, so the damage takes a modest share of the price.
Worth knowing before you send it
Six point nine inches of glass is a lot to hold on to, and it is the part that meets the pavement first. The phone underneath usually survives it, which is the whole reason a cracked one is worth sending to us rather than to a site that prices damage as scrap. The Camera Control button and the 48 megapixel ultra wide camera both arrived with this generation. Press the flush button low on the right hand edge: if the camera opens, you are holding a 16 Pro Max or later, not a 15.
Try the Camera Control before you pack it. Under its sapphire crystal cover sit a force sensor and a touch sensor, so a healthy one clicks when pressed and shifts the zoom when a thumb slides along it, and a hard knock on that edge can stop either. Then turn the phone over. From the 15 Pro onwards Apple builds its Pro models so the back glass comes away by itself, which makes a shattered back here a far smaller repair than the chassis job it is on a 14 Pro Max. The bump carries three cameras and the one people forget is the 5x telephoto, so take a zoomed photo as well as a normal one. Desert Titanium, the sandy gold finish, was only ever sold on the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max.
Sure it is this one?
6.9 inches, three cameras, titanium, and the camera button on the edge. The 15 Pro Max before it is 6.7, and side by side that is a difference you can see rather than one you have to measure.
Every size, broken
Picture gone, this model runs 256 GB £251, 512 GB £261 and 1 TB £271.
Cracked with the picture good, 256 GB £414, 512 GB £462 and 1 TB £462.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max in one paragraph
At 6.9 inches it is bigger than every Pro Max before it, so cases, screens and glass from an older Max do not fit.
No 128 GB option on this one. It starts at 256 GB, the same as the 15 Pro Max before it.
What happens to a broken one here
A big screen on an expensive phone is where the gap between us and a scrap price is widest. An iPhone 16 Pro Max panel is a part we order and fit as a matter of routine, so the breakage is a line on a job sheet rather than a reason to start at nothing.
Free tracked postage, checked within a working day, paid within 48 hours of it arriving, and erased to recognised standards with the record kept.
The practical questions, erasing a phone you cannot see, posting a bad crack safely, changing your mind, are on the broken iPhone page. For the phone rather than the breakage, see the iPhone 16 Pro Max page. Still deciding? How to turn off Find My iPhone before you sell.
