£172 with the picture gone, 128 GB

Sell your broken
iPhone 16 Plus.

Even with nothing on the screen at all, a 128 GB is £172. That is 61 per cent of the working price rather than the nothing you may have been expecting. At this end of the range the damage is one part of a phone that is otherwise worth a lot, and the offer is built that way round.

Condition

What counts as Picture fine

  • Original screen, picture perfect
  • Touch works everywhere on the screen
  • Front or back glass cracked or smashed
  • A dent, a broken camera or speaker, Face ID not working

  • A replacement screen, however good: Faulty, screen broken
  • Will not switch on or charge: we cannot buy it

What the damage costs you

Three figures, and the gaps between them are the point. £280 if it is perfect. £264 once the front glass has gone but the display under it still draws a clean image, a drop of £16. £172 once the image itself is wrong, which is £108 off the top. Cracked glass over a working picture is close to free here, which is not true at most places you could send it.

Shown for the 128 GB, the smallest this model came in, so nothing here is higher than the phone you have. On an OLED a failing panel shows as a dark blotch, a burnt in shadow of the keyboard, or a line of pixels that has simply stopped. If you cannot tell, pick the lower grade: a phone that turns out better than you described is upgraded at the bench. Our three grades, explained properly.

Where the iPhone 16 Plus sits

That makes the iPhone 16 Plus one of the better ones on this site. Put the 32 models we can price broken in order and it lands with 7 above it and 23 below.

That is not one model being lucky. Sorted by price, the 32 we can price broken fall into two camps: the cheap ones average about 41 per cent kept, the ones from £120 upwards average about 57 per cent, and what separates them is what the working phone is worth rather than what its screen is made of.

The screen is the part that meets the floor and very little else does. On an iPhone 16 Plus the board, the cameras and the battery are almost always fine afterwards, and since they are most of the value of the phone, most of the value survives.

Worth knowing before you send it

It has the Camera Control on the edge like the 16, on a body that is harder to hold one handed. A cracked one is still a phone we want.

The right hand edge of a 16 Plus carries the Camera Control, and it is worth testing in its lighter modes as well as with a full press. With the camera open, press it gently twice and an overlay of settings should appear; slide a fingertip along it to scroll them and press lightly to choose one. On the opposite side, holding the Action button should toggle Silent mode, unless it has been set to something else. Then the back, where the vertical pair of lenses sits: take a macro shot of small print, which uses the ultra wide, and a 2x shot, which uses the main sensor. With a MagSafe charger, check charging still starts through a cracked back. A teal or ultramarine 6.7 inch phone is a 16 Plus.

Sure it is this one?

The 6.7 inch version of the 16, with the same vertical camera pill and the same flush camera button low on the right hand edge. The 15 Plus has its lenses in a square bump and nothing on that edge.

Every size, broken

Picture gone, this model runs 128 GB £172, 256 GB £198 and 512 GB £203.

Cracked with the picture good, 128 GB £264, 256 GB £264 and 512 GB £266.

The iPhone 16 Plus in one paragraph

It has the longest battery life of the 16 range, which is the main reason people chose it over the 16.

What happens to a broken one here

A big screen on an expensive phone is where the gap between us and a scrap price is widest. An iPhone 16 Plus panel is a part we order and fit as a matter of routine, so the breakage is a line on a job sheet rather than a reason to start at nothing.

Postage and the pack are free whatever it turns out to be worth, it is checked within a working day, and you are paid within 48 hours of it arriving.

The practical questions, erasing a phone you cannot see, posting a bad crack safely, changing your mind, are on the broken iPhone page. For the phone rather than the breakage, see the iPhone 16 Plus page. Still deciding? Our three grades, explained properly.

Broken iPhones either side of this one

The share beside each name is what that model keeps. Notice how little the panel has to do with the order.
